We first draw the demarcation between the phenomena of aggregation and crystallization based on the type of attachment – to any configuration of the growing structure (A2A) or to a kink position (A2K) illustrating this with the help of Cellular Automata. Then we derive a model of crystallization in decaying supersaturation. We verify the model using a most used model in the field – that of Johnson, Mehl, Avrami and Kolmogorov. Then we show the steps towards building a validation protocol and make the first validations. In particular, the new model is used as part of an hierarchy of models to re-analyze published nucleation data.

At the end, we return to the Cellular Automata to see how the new model works on the data from them.
