Tracing a quantum particle - an introduction to repeated measurements

Ever since the invention of quantum mechanics roughly a century ago, the problem of measurement has received unwavering attention from physicists. In the talk I will review its relation to the foundations of the theory and present some key historical developments. This will lead us to the modern formulation, laying the groundwork in our quest for a model of a continouosly monitored quantum particle.
